04/01/2026

Today i woke up and immediately went outside for a long walk. I reflected deeply on my future music and i feel excited; it’s been a month without Ableton Live.
I decided to start a music journal after every session during the making of my next album. I don't know if i will keep it as a new habit, but i think it could be fun to track my progress, and maybe it could help me keep a strong mindset and avoid procrastination.
So after setting up my home studio, i opened a new project file, even though i have a ton of unfinished material. It was weird at the beginning: i just made some nonsense percussion and basic pads, and played my classical guitar over it. Guitar is my instrument.
I went ahead for an hour and a half. I tried different chord progressions. Some were cool, but i didn't record anything. I just enjoyed playing music with no expectations or plans, without pressure.

Song of the day: Roxy Music - More Than This

This morning i went to a big shopping center to do some work; there is a big smart working area, it’s very chill before lunch.
I did some music while i was there, like 30 mins of just midi chord progressions, nothing special but fun and stupid.
Then at 5 pm, after getting home and doing other stuff, i listened to some old demos some vaporwave but also more recent stuff i did. I wasn't really in the mood to work on that, so i picked up my guitar and played like yesterday. I ended up arranging two songs. My first thought was woo, let's make an EP with just guitar and voice. Ok, that's a cool idea, but calm down. In this phase, where i have no specific direction, i'm always like woo, i should make an album with these sounds, or this concept, or bla bla bla, and then i just feel confused because i want so many things.
Maybe i should focus on just making a good song and then i'll see, not planning an album every time i'm making music haha. I need to remember this.

Song of the day: Daniel White - Textbook Safari

Yesterday, after a morning walk in the Milan Garibaldi area, i opened a new project file and started writing a melody in a weird tempo. I felt the flow, i was fully absorbed in composing. It was an amazing feeling i haven't had in a while.
I think it could be a really fun song, made with a basic piano sound: two patterns with different time signatures that intersect harmoniously. I love polyrhythms.
I want to sing in my future songs. I started writing down an idea for lyrics, but i want to keep it secret for now; i need to expand it and see if it works.
Damn, my neck just seized up, i can't move :(

Song of the day: Clannad - Now is Here

11/01/2026

I'm starting to think i'm more productive in the morning, right after waking up.
This morning i just had a warm earl grey tea and opened Ableton Live; i worked on a pretty old track.
Three hours went by without me realizing it. I recorded some guitar parts and marimba parts, both intentionally detuned to create dissonance.
Then i worked with midi, using samples and percussive parts.
The general structure of the track is done; i'm happy with it.
I can say it has fantasy vibes and is very abstract.
But the outro needs to be rearranged, maybe something more orchestral as a soft background to the current lead choirs.
This session was definitely the best i’ve had in a while. I had no distractions at all, just being in the music process, amazing feeling. Let’s go with more days like this.
And don’t forget that early morning is pure magic.

Song of the day: Chastity Belt - Different Now

Today i had a mild headache, but i wanted to go ahead with a remix for a friend because i'd like to finish it by the end of the month.
It worked out well, a great piece of drumless trance.
This could have fit well with my latest album “HEAD RUSH”.
I kept the leads from the original track and changed the melody; i like it.
Now i just need to work on details, transition FX, and structure to improve the build-up feeling i want to have in this one.
Now i feel better. I'm glad i persisted even though i wasn't full of energy; it's rewarding to make progress on something.
Tonight i'm going to rest and maybe play some chess.
Ok, new challenge: let's try to finish this remix by the end of the week! I still have 4 days :) yo

Song of the day: Blur - Colin Zeal

-------------------------------------------------

17/01/2026

It's a rainy Saturday morning. I woke up early and started working on the remix.
Yesterday i did an explosive outro, but it wasn't harmoniously connected to the previous parts, so today i focused on that and it came out so good.
I'm so happy about it, it's an explosion of pure emotion.
Aaah, i love chords so much, i'm so melody-obsessed.
The structure is set. i can say the production is 93% done; just improving some transitions with FX and background stuff, then i can do the final mix.
The challenge was a nice idea, it really motivates me. i want to try it more.
Next week i have a show to prepare for January 24, but i'll find some time for new music :)
This afternoon i will go out for a walk, and maybe pizza tonight.

Song of the day: Blank Banshee - Wavestep

18/01/2026

It's Sunday and after a morning swim at the pool, i ate and took a nap.
Then i started a music session. i wasn't really in the mood, but i wanted to re-listen to what i did yesterday, and i started improving the mix, little details like automation and volume levels.
Now it sounds better. The build-up grows in a natural way; it still needs some work of course. Hopefully next week i'll finish it.
I decided that i should try to add some granular textures in the intro and in the bridge before the outro, some glittery sounds maybe. i'd like to have something that sparkles, because at the moment it's just a wall of supersaws haha. i think it needs some texture to make it sound more complete.
But i'll see in the next session; i need to listen to it for a couple of days and take some notes.
Ok, maybe it's not 100%, but i consider this challenge thing complete and i'm happy with the result.

Song of the day: Xamd - heavenly house

--------------------------------------------------------------

29/01/2026

Last week i had the show, and it went really well; good people, good sounds, had a great night :)
During the week i didn't work on my computer, but i wrote a song (lyrics + chords).
I'm so excited to record it, i can describe it as a psychedelic ballad haha.
It's been a while since i sang on a song, but i'm happy to retry this natural approach to creating songs.
The remix i was working on is complete; i just finished the last improvements.
I added a lot of risers and worked on levels and EQ.
It sounds bomb (buuut maybe it's better to listen to it for a couple more days with fresh ears and see if everything is fine).
Glad to be finally back in my music routine, i have a free weekend starting tomorrow, so my plans are music, music, music, probably i'll try to record the ballad.
I was thinking of singing through guitar pedals and treating the voice also as an instrument, maybe doing weird vocal parts plus a main one!

Song of the day: Lionel Richie - All Night Long (All Night)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

01/02/2026

It's Sunday and after a morning run in the park and lunch, i started my music session.
I decided to record the ballad i wrote, so i first recorded the main guitar part, then a second layer of the same part (just a couple of chord progressions), and finally the voice (2 layers) it was so fun singing; i hope my roommates didn't hear me ranting haha.
I decided to pitch up the guitar and the voice, and suddenly it made more sense musically, it sounds more fairy and eerie.
I added a marimba part, which gives an exotic vibe to the song.
At the end i recorded myself pushing random buttons on a playstation joystick (with samples loaded in it).
I wanted percussive sounds to pop up casually, not quantized of course.
My idea was a ballad that sounds a bit out of tune and a bit out of time, like it's played by a drunk band; “drunk band” could be a perfect title for this one haha!
Today i really enjoyed making music, i like mixing my digital and acoustic processes; i feel i can express myself better.

Song of the day: The Chemical Brothers - Swoon (Boys Noize remix)

----------------------------------------------

11/02/2026

After a week off in Valencia with my friends, today i came back to music. I worked on the final mix of the remix i finished in the last few weeks. I want to deliver it in the next few days!
Then i'll focus on finishing a track for a compilation and also starting another remix :( i feel a bit of pressure because i'd like to focus only on my stuff, but it's okay. I hope i'll find some time this month.
Then in March i'll start trying/organizing my live set because i'll be on tour in Asia!!!
I'm so fucking excited about it, more info soon!
I need to check my instruments, gear, cables, and adapters.
I'm very paranoid, so i usually need a lot of plan B if something doesn't work!
So these are the plans. i'm just a little bit sad because i would like to have more time for producing new music, but also so hyped for the tour.
This really could be one of the best experiences of my life. X

Song of the day: UNKLE - Restless (Fake Blood remix)

-----------------------------------------------------------------

17/02/2026

In the last days i worked on that remix. I finished mixing and mastering it; it's ready to be delivered, finally! i'm starting to get nervous about my Asia tour; i still can't believe it's happening in a month!
So i won't be super active on this journal, but my goal is to finish all these last collaborations by the end of February, so that i'll have March free to focus just on trying my live performance.
I know my latest entries here may sound boring, but i am boring at the moment, so it's unavoidable!

Song of the day: Danny L Harle - Laa

02/03/2026

It's March, almost finished all the tasks/collabs
finally i'm starting to prepare for the East Asia Tour
Here is a pic of me, setting up my flight case for

instruments, i  was cutting the foam so that my
gear won't move during the flight.
Now it's perfect, also i changed the wheels, they
were very consumed by the previous travels.
I bought new cables and like 100 adapters, i love

adapters, i have a collection, if there's a thing that

makes me nervous is not being able to plug my

instruments/laptop in a club because of the
socket, so i always bring a lot of adapters.
Even if i have a universal one, i need a plan B,
it's mandatory.

Have a nice day, my friend!

Song of the day: bby3ksn7 - e.motion

12/04/2026

Back home! The tour went great i feel so happy and lucky. I met so many kind people.
I finally got back to producing. i'm working on a new collaboration track for a compilation; i've designed a really cool FM bass sound. It has a lot of harmonics, so i built the track around it, added some trance stabs and a cool lead part. It needs some structure and transition FX, which i'll do in the next few days; then i'll just have to wait for the vocals from one of my favorite singers and collaborators :) and then finish it. The deadline is the end of May. I have more than a month.
On the side, i'm rearranging my live set with a light setup for traveling with just a backpack. i've made some racks in Ableton for performing with one controller; it still needs some testing, but it seems to be working very well.
I was also thinking of buying a MIDI guitar, or at least trying one. As a guitarist and synth lover, it could be a great instrument for live performance.
It's great to jump back into my routine. Touring is beautiful for many reasons, but it's also so tiring mentally and physically (for me).

Song of the day: DJ MICROPULSE - Innocent Shine

19/04/2026

In the past 3 days i only focused on the collab track. I defined a general structure with a lot of variations, maybe a bit too many but i think it helps to understand where the vocals sit better.
I'm now waiting for the vocals, then i think i'll be able to cut the unnecessary parts. When i start a song, i usually tend to add so many synth layers, like a chaotic brainstorming of sounds, so i always have to go back and cut stuff.
For this track i'd like to make it a bit shorter and create more coherence between the parts. Let's see how the vocals communicate with the instrumental :).
On the side, i'm experimenting with my kick sounds in Serum2.
Next week i'll take some time to optimize my live set (light version) because i have a show next month and i'd like to test it.

Song of the day: The Frog Galliard – John Dowland

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

28/04/2026

I realized i have so many tracks to release (like 15/20 haha).
I'm making a list right now i have enough material for an album.
Yesterday i worked on a new song idea and it's about laughing :) the instrumental is so cool, with a lot of glitches and weird FM sounds. I need to record real laugh sounds; i'll ask Michelle to do it :) i also want to add some texture with the GR-1. It's the best for organic random elements, i love this machine. You just have to put an audio file into it and then twist the knobs as you like.
The song reminds me of my older one “Catfish” but in a newer version.
Also, i just received the vocals for the collab track i was working last week i can't wait to listen and finish it. Probably i'll start tonight!
Oh, i have a couple of songs coming out in the next few days; i hope you will enjoy the music!
Cheers!

Song of the day: Tears for Fears - Head Over Heels

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

04/05/2026

Okay, the “laugh song” is nearly done. It has a very weird vibe, like everything is pitch-bending during the song, with a cool electro bass sound. I just need to add vocals (laugh haha) and work on the mix.
I want to play it at my next show, which is in 2 weeks, i want to test it.
There are a lot of cool snare synth sounds in it. i need to bring some order and choose one to dominate the others; it's always a challenge to choose the right hierarchy of elements like who stays in the front and who sits in the back, also with synth sounds. Maybe it's just because i always overproduce, lol.
Very happy with this result; i needed this freakish song; it came out easily in 3 sessions.
I made some progress with my light live set; it's all working outtt.

Song of the day: JELO & Hatiras - Donkey Punch

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11/05/2026

Here we are with another weekly update. Last week i was super productive, i finished 2 songs!
The first one was the “laugh track.” i finally added a couple of recordings of Michelle laughing. i manipulated the pitch and quantized them to create a sense of rhythm and looped them.
I also did an extra layer by putting those recordings through granulator III and twisting the knobs.
It sounds a bit overwhelming having all these weird voices going on and on; i need to listen to it more carefully and with fresh ears, but i'm 100% happy with the instrumental all the synth sounds magical and freaky!
The second track was the collaboration. I put the vocals into the project, and as i predicted, i had to cut lots of layers. Initially it was kinda difficult, but after trying and trying i found the solution. Now the track breathes and the vocals have their own space.
This one is so clubby and trancey; the vocals made it so catchy. i'm ready to deliver it to the singer and hope they like it!
So in 4 days i have a show here in Milan and of course added these 2 new tracks. i want to test them with a crowd and a big sound system! I made the light live setup; it works very well!
A little negative note: i noticed that the newer tracks sound so much better than the older ones. I think it's unavoidable, i'm quite happy that i improved at mixing haha. But i don't want to go back and fix the old mixes.
I already touched those tracks so many times, so for now i'll keep the original sound even if it sounds a bit unbalanced.

Song of the day: Soft Hair - Lying has to stop

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

23/05/2026

The show went great! There was a really warm energy, i had so much fun and met new friends.
Then i took 4 days off where i rested, did sports, and watched movies in my bed; i needed to recharge my batteries by doing nothing, just being alive.
Then on Wednesday i opened the project for the collaboration track and finished the mix, and after some feedback we decided that it's finished! It sounds so good, i can't wait to drop this one, i've been listening to it on repeat.
Now my side music tasks are done, and i can finally focus on new music. I'm going to export all the drafts that i want to include in my future album and maybe plan my next steps to complete it.
I have guitar tracks to record, lyrics to write, old projects to rearrange, maybe also a sampling session. It's all coming together. I'm feeling excited for next week; i don't want any commitments or distractions for the next few months, just my boring and beloved routine, my music time, and of course some chess games here and there.

Song of the day: Orbital - Halcyon and On and On

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

31/05/2026

Today i woke up and finished exporting the demos of the tracks i want to include on the album.
I listened to all of them, and i felt a bit confused. There are a lot of different styles and vibes, and i don't know if they work well together. This could be a very weird album, not very cohesive, but really entertaining in my opinion. Usually i like to make albums with a strong direction in terms of sound and style, but this one is going to be different.
My goal was to make everything i like without thinking too much, like a sort of sketchbook, a personal laboratory of music. So my initial thought was: okay, i like ambient, i like punk, i like deconstructed music, i like guitar. Let's put everything in here and maybe i will find a sense to all of this.
Uhm haha, i've been stuck thinking about this and listening to it until the afternoon.
Then i picked up my guitar and made a new track. I recorded it and finished it in like 2 hours (it rarely happens), so i said to myself: wow, this is the way, this is beautiful.
"Enjoying the process of making it." I think i said this when i started this journal in January.
It was always the main point.
So this track is punk mixed with trance synths. It's fast and danceable with an angry vibe. i'd like to make a video for this one; i actually already have an idea for it, but i need to think about it.
At the end of the day i came back to the original idea of the album: the melting pot.
During the week i retouched some tracks, making little improvements before exporting everything.
I just need to keep going until i'll be 100% sure about everything. If it's not 100%, it's a no.

Song of the day: Connan Mockasin - Charlotte's Thong

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10/06/2026

After a weekend off, in these last 3 days i've been planning how to finish the tracks that are almost done, and then focus on the ones that need more work. I need a structure, to think about one thing at a time and tick finished songs off this big list without thinking too much about the mix. I can do that later!
I finalized the punk/trancey track, adding a sampled screamo vocal. I also tried to scream myself, but i only ended up losing my voice. All my failed attempts were so funny, i laughed a lot. I only used a single word that came out decent. The song is done and i love it. It reminds me of my younger self when i was into dance-punk and spent all day making guitar riffs. After finishing it, i tried adding a classical guitar part as an intro or outro, or maybe leaving it as a ghost track. I'll decide later; for now i'll leave it there.
I feel better about the whole album. After talking with some friends, i feel more confident and less confused. I just have to be patient. There are too many songs, so it's impossible to finish it in just a few sessions. Do not rush, it's all coming together.

Song of the day: Allan Holdsworth - Sand

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18/06/2026

I have a new synthesizer! The Erebus V3. I'm really loving it. In these past days i've been playing with it and exploring its sound. Wow, it sounds like electricity. I don't know how to explain it, but that's exactly what it feels like. Also, it is always slightly out of tune. I like tuning it by ear. It has 3 oscillators. It's really what i was looking for! i'm very excited to use it in my new songs; it's my first fully analog synth.
Tomorrow the weekend starts, and i'll be all alone in the house for 3 days with no distractions, so i decided to organize a big music session and work on the album.
Currently i have like 6 songs at 90% and 3 at 50%, so i'd like to do a challenge here (as i did before). What could be a goal for these 3 days? Let's try to finish 3 tracks. Considering i have some tracks that are nearly done, i think it's doable! I will also film the session with a little camera. It could be cool to have some footage of the making of, like this journal, and post it too.
I've spent too much time inside the house these days because outside it's insanely hot. I miss walks, i miss my favorite spot at Monumentale Cemetery.
I should wake up very early and go outside before it gets scorching hot.

Song of the day: Baauer - Calling Out For U

-------------------------------------------------------------

25/06/2026

The weekend session went great. I finished 2 tracks and, instead of finishing a third one, i made a new one ooops haha. I'm quite happy with the result, i know the challenge was to finish 3, but it's okay!
Very hyped about the new one, it's a cool chord progression with these vocal chops manipulated via midi through waves tune realtime (autotune). It has some features i love, like note speed, transitions, and the correction factor; i'd like to automate these parameters to add movement.
My idea is to keep the track drumless, but make it pump with a sidechain-like effect, maybe only on the big reverb and delay of the vocals. I want the vocals to evolve continuously in an expressive way, unpredictable, avoiding repetition and just leading the melody in a human way.
Uhm, it's kinda stupid using a human voice recording, then processing it as if it were sung by a computer, and then trying to make it more human again with automation. What the fuck am i doing? What a weird time for electronic music.
It's Thursday today, the weekend is near. Let's go with more sessions, i'll probably focus on finishing this new one and maybe finalizing the older tracks.
I also started writing all my mixing ideas and edits in a notebook so i don't forget anything, because i'm starting to feel overwhelmed managing more than 10 tracks. Writing everything down is helping me not go crazy. Let's go!

Song of the day: Duran Duran – Ordinary World

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

02/07/2026

During the last weekend i made an edit of a John Dowland song, "The Frog Galliard," which has nothing to do with the album (lol), but i needed to do something just for the pleasure of it, with no pressure. i've put it on SoundCloud as a fun exercise. But okay, let's not lose focus on the album. In the past few days i've made little improvements to a few tracks, but i mainly listened to all the demos and noted down some things to fix. I'm back in my hometown right now, so i'm not in my studio space. I have some family stuff going on and old friends to meet, so i'm struggling to find time to keep working on the tracks. But i'm constantly brainstorming, which is a bit exhausting because it's hard to focus on other things. These moments are perfect for clearing my mind, but i'm not able to do it. I know this is all part of the process of making an album. It happens all the time when it's a long-term project: you reach the point where there's no more instant gratification, only critical overthinking and decision-making. Jumping from one track to another to continuously change perspective. And trying to keep everything aligned with your overall vision, which continuously morphs into something rare and distinctive (hopefully).

Okay, i don't know why i'm trying to say cool artist things, but i kinda see it like this haha.
Less ranting, less time wasted, more progress!
Nothing more to say!

Song of the day: Conditions – Better Life

----------------------------------------------------------

08/07/2026

Yesterday i almost finished the track with the manipulated vocal chops. i've made a great structure with a lot of variations. It's mainly drumless, except for some clicks and snaps in a few parts.
I added an ascending outro where everything starts melting together, like a sort of huge pad.
I should try going full wet with the reverb on the synth group and see what happens.
The vocals are so beautiful. I processed them with some "analog obsession" plugins for color and dynamics, and i'm impressed, they sound incredible. I probably need one more session to complete this one.
Today instead i recorded some vocals, kind of a hook, for another track. It's like a loop that goes on basically for the whole length of the song (i still have to figure that out), but it really works!
Also, this track had like 5 synth arpeggios masking each other, so i sent the midi to my new hardware Erebus V3. Wow, it solved the problem and improved the part with some glitchy textures after i started twisting the FM knob. I'm impressed! It is now the protagonist of the song. I muted all the other Serum arpeggios except for some minor parts.
I should now work on the structure and decide how to develop it from start to finish, but i'm already quite happy to have found this direction.
The Erebus is silently becoming the glue of the album, making the whole thing more cohesive.
I'm feeling very productive these days. One thing at a time, every day! Let's go ahead with this wave. I feel positive.

Song of the day: Teddybears – Get Mama a House
